Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Quietkind collects when you visit or buy from tryquietkind.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. Quietkind is the data controller for the information described here, and is based in the United States.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you place an order, create an account, sign up for emails or texts, leave a review, or contact support, you give us some combination of your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, and whatever you write to us in a message.

Payment information. Card payments are processed by Shopify and its payment providers. We never see or store your full card number. What reaches us is a confirmation that payment succeeded, the payment method type, and the last four digits.

Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, we collect technical information as you browse: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view on our site and how long you spend on them, and cookie identifiers. Our Cookie Policy sets out exactly which cookies do this and how to turn the optional ones off.

Information from others. We receive limited information from shipping carriers about delivery status, from payment providers about fraud risk scoring, and from advertising and analytics platforms about how people arrive at our site.

Why we use it
To fulfil your order — taking payment, packing, shipping, sending confirmations and tracking, handling returns and refunds.
To provide support — answering your emails, resolving delivery problems, honouring the trial and warranty.
To send marketing, if you have asked for it. Every email has an unsubscribe link and every text accepts STOP.
To improve the store — understanding which pages work, which do not, and where people get stuck.
To prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the site secure.
To meet legal obligations — tax and accounting records, consumer law, and responding to lawful requests.

If you are in the EU or UK, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (fulfilling your order), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, security, improving the store, and direct marketing to existing customers), consent (optional cookies, and marketing where consent is required), and legal obligation (tax and record-keeping).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the store, and only with what they need:

Shopify — our ecommerce platform, which hosts the store and processes orders.
Payment providers — to take payment and screen for fraud.
Shipping carriers and fulfilment partners — name, address and phone number, so your parcel can be delivered.
Email and SMS platforms — to send order notifications and, where you have opted in, marketing.
Analytics and advertising platforms — usage data and, where you have consented, advertising identifiers.
Professional advisers — accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
Authorities — where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
A buyer — if the business is sold or merged, customer information may transfer as part of it. We would tell you.

Note that some advertising and analytics cookies count as "sharing" or a "sale" under certain US state privacy laws even though no money changes hands. See the section on US state rights below for how to opt out.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is typically 7 years. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe, and then on a suppression list so we do not accidentally email you again. Support correspondence is kept for 3 years. Analytics data is retained according to each platform's own retention settings, generally between 14 and 26 months.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can email support@tryquietkind.com and ask us to:

tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
correct anything that is wrong;
delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
stop sending you marketing;
send your information to another provider in a portable format.

We will verify your identity — usually by confirming you control the email address on the order — and respond within 30 days, or 45 days where the law allows an extension and we tell you why. There is no charge. You can use an authorised agent, and we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law

California, and a growing number of other states, give residents the specific rights to know what is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. To opt out, decline non-essential cookies in the banner on this site, or email us with "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" in the subject line. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

If you are in the EU or the UK

We do not currently sell or ship outside the United States, but people in the EU and the UK still visit this site, and these rights apply to that visit. You additionally have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, the right to restrict processing, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.

International transfers

We and our service providers are based in, or use infrastructure in, the United States. If you are outside the US, your information will be transferred there. Where required, these transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an applicable adequacy decision.

Children

This store is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS, payment card data is handled by PCI-compliant providers and never touches our systems, and access to customer records is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but if a breach ever affected your information we would notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will say so on the site or by email rather than quietly editing the page.
